Jammu, July 07: National Conference leaders on Sunday highlighted the “failures” of the Lieutenant Governor’s administration.
In this regard, a meeting was organised in the Jammu North Assembly Segment in which the Ankush Abrol Provincial Joint Secretary JKNC was chief guest, the party said in a statement. Dr Vikas Sharma Co-ordinator of Jammu District (Urban) and Zonal Secretary JKNC presided over the meeting organised by Rajendra Kumar.
During the meeting, the old women present there said that their pension had been stopped for the last two years and no one is ready to listen to them due to which their living has become very difficult, the statement said, adding. “They said that drug addiction has ruined the future of our children. Earlier we used to get first free electricity and free water. Now despite the installation of smart meters, we are not getting uninterrupted power supply with inflated power bills being sent.”
Ankush Abrol and Dr Vikas Sharma gave a patient hearing to the problems of the public and assured them that all their problems will be taken up with the concerned authority for appropriate action to redress their issues.
Abrol while addressing a meeting said, “For the last 10 years, the people of Jammu and Kashmir are in trouble as no one is listening to them. Today, the life of the people has become miserable in all respects. The BJP snatched statehood from the people of J&K and deprived them of elected government and now we are being subjected to heavy taxation in different forms. Nobody listens to the people and they are made subservient to bureaucrats.”
The NC leader said the graph of unemployment has increased tremendously with the passage of time and the youth is diverting towards the use of drugs out of desperation and utter frustration due to “policy paralysis” and “deep-rooted corruption” in the government system.
Dr Vikas Sharma in his address said, “If the National Conference gets a majority, all your problems can be resolved. In the coming assembly election, all should join hands together to support Ajay Sadhotra from Jammu North Constituency to ensure victory by maximum votes.”
Dr Sharma further said that the present government has increased the electricity bills in the last 5 years but there is no regular power supply. “Despite the humid and hot weather, the present LG administration is not worried about minimising the problems of the public,” he said, adding that the scarcity of electricity leads to drinking water scarcity with regular interruption of water supply.
He urged the people to strengthen the hands of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah so that NC could once again form a popular government in J&K and mitigate the sufferings of the poor masses.
