BUDGAM, Nov 29: The wildlife department captured a leopard alive on Tuesday at Dawlatpora area of Chadoora tehsil in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Block officer from the Wildlife Control Room in Chadoora, told Rising Kashmir that after the wildlife department received information about the roaming of the leopard in the area our team reached the spot immediately.
“The wildlife department along with Budgam Police swung into action and were successful in catching the leopard alive without injury to anyone,” he said.
Bhat said that this was a male leopard, 7 to 8 years of age, weighing more than 47 kg, which was roaming in various villages of Chadoora tehsil which includes Kralpora, Wathoora, and others areas from the last few days. He said that The people in the said areas were relieved after the leopard was caught alive.
“The leopard has been sent to the Dachigam National Park in Srinagar, where the wildlife department is properly taking care of these wild animals,” the official said.
