Pulwama, Dec 16: A leopard was captured on Friday afternoon by officials of the Wildlife Department at Arigam village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
An official of the wildlife department said that they received a call from locals and police control room Pulwama about the presence of the leopard in Arigam.
He said that they rushed to the area and found that the leopard had taken shelter in a water pipe.
“ Both ends of the pipe were blocked with nets and the leopard was distributed so that it emerged from one end,” the official said, adding that the animal was tranquilized and captured.
He appealed to people to cooperate with the wildlife department.
“ The people should not crowd around the wild animal and try to control it themselves because that way they are putting themselves in danger,” he said, adding that people should stay away from wild animals and let them handle it professionally.
Earlier 3 black bears were captured from Ladhoo and Mandakpal area of Pampore in the past couple of weeks.
