New Delhi, Feb 12: Prominent legal expert and senior advocate, Ashok Bhan Sunday received life time achievement award from New Delhi based “Kashmir Educational, Cultural & Scientific Society” a reputed organisation founded by distinguished professionals in diverse fields.
The life time award was conferred to Bhan for his distinguished professional and social services by the chairman of the society at a function attended by galaxy of prominent, authors, bureaucrats, cultural personalities, professors, lawyers and public representatives.
Bhan is among the senior most advocates at the Supreme Court of India and has handled high-profile cases across the country. He worked in Jammu and Kashmir High Court and was one of the prominent advocates till 1988.
Following the turmoil in Valley, Bhan migrated to New Delhi and started practicing in the Supreme Court of India. After migrating from Valley to New Delhi, Bhan had to struggle for attaining professional excellence-that is being recognized by bar and the benches and by various social and think tank forums.
From 1989 to till date, Bhan has been continuously handling matters of great importance, high-profile cases, and other matters.
Bhan who worked as a special senior advocate for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and argued against YS Jaganmohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case is now arguing on behalf of Amaravati farmers.
He successfully argued for CBI in a disproportionate assets case and pitched against the likes of Harish Salve, Mukul Rohatgi, Gopal Subramanyam, and Ram Jethmalani. Shanti Bhushan, & other eminent lawyers of the Country.
Bhan started his engagement with CBI in Bofors case in the nineties and argued highly sensitive matters namely the Chandraswami case, Kethan Parikh hawala matter, Yaderappa’s corruption case, Mining scandal etc. in various high courts and in Supreme Court.
Bhan is also chairman of Kashmir (Policy & Strategy) Group and has also represented cooperate houses and many civil matters and many arbitrations. He is also a working with London-based law firm that keeps consulting him on various important matters and arbitrations.
