Srinagar, Nov 06: The Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (LC&MA) on Saturday said they have tightened the noose of violators in Srinagar and has also registered 88 FIRs against the repeat offenders.
Divulging the details Vice Chairman of the Lakes Conservation and Management Authority, Dr. Bashir Ahmad, said that in the ensuing year they have demolished 282 structures in the city, while 88 FIRs were registered against the offenders. Also, 7 structures were sealed in 42 special drives that were carried out.
The officer said that whenever the enforcement wing receives input about any illegal structures at any place, they are there within no time to verify the credentials of the same.
“If the structure is found illegal, the structures will be demolished.” “In repeated cases, the FIRs are registered against the offenders,” the officer said, adding that the department won’t allow the illegal raising of structures at any place in the city.
An official of LC&MA told Rising Kashmir, in a recent drives scores of structures were demolished at Harwan, Lal Bazar, Nigeen, Saida Kadal, Nishat, Braine Upper, Ishber & Nowpora.
During the demolition drive two 1st storey, one 2nd storey, one 3rd storey, one shed, one tin walling, two Plinths, one wall Block and pillars were removed/demolished on spot. Further, illegally dumped earth filling in the areas of Tailbal and Saidakadal was also removed and seized.
Before this illegal construction were demolished in the areas of Sadoo Colony Ishber, Lhasa Gali Dalgate, Shahdadbagh Habak, Chandpora Harwan, Lal Bazar and Saida Kadal.
The officer said that the drive was carried out in Sadoo Colony Ishber, Lhasa Gali Dalgate, Shahdadbagh Habak, Chandpora Harwan, Lal Bazar, and Saida Kadal. He stated that during the drive, two first stories, two-second stories, one plinth, one ten walling, and one shop shuttering were demolished.
The officer said that, “It has been observed that people are raising their structures during the holdays.”
He said thar the enforcement teams are remaining alret to avoid the raise of any illegal structures on the bank of any water body in Srinagar.
The LCMA has appealed to the people living within the jurisdiction of the Authority not to take any illegal construction in the prohibited area and warned of stern action against the violators as warranted under law.
Meanwhile, people in these areas have been warned not to resort to any illegal constructions, encroachments and were asked to get proper building permission from the competent Authority before taking any construction in hand.
