Baltal, July 06: As the sacred Amarnath Yatra continues in full swing, hundreds of langars at the Baltal base camp have become lifelines for thousands of pilgrims making the spiritual journey to the holy cave shrine. These community-run kitchens are working around the clock to provide free meals, medical assistance, and temporary lodging to the yatris. From steaming plates of hot meals to warm bedding at night, volunteers at these langars are ensuring that no devotee faces hardship during their stay. Additional amenities like clean washrooms, proper lighting, and drinking water facilities have been put in place to offer a safe and comfortable environment to the pilgrims.“We feel at home here. The food and services are excellent,” said a pilgrim resting at one of the langars.Vikas Sharma, an organizer of one of the langars, shared, “We’ve been serving pilgrims at Baltal for the past 19 years, providing free food and shelter. It’s our way of serving the divine and those who walk this sacred path.”Groups like the Shiv Gauri Sewa Mandal from Delhi and several others from Haryana are among the many selfless organizations running these services. They also expressed appreciation for the robust security arrangements in place and appealed to all yatris to cooperate with the authorities and follow guidelines for a smooth and safe pilgrimage. These langars reflect the spirit of service and unity that defines the Amarnath Yatra — where devotion, humanity, and hospitality walk hand in hand.
