A landslide hit a house and three shops at Shalmach, a hamlet of Nandimarg village in the Kulgam district in the last midnight hours on Thursday.
Locals said, a landslide after blocking the Nandimarg Damhal Hanjipora road, hit a house and three shops across the road which caused damage to these structures.
“A hut sanctioned by government under PMAY Garmin which belonged to Abdul Majeed Hajam has been damaged besides four other shops due to landslide,” says Abid Hussain, a local.
Bashir Ul Hassan, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Damhal Hanjipora told Rising Kashmir that early in the morning they received a call about this landslide and immediately they responded with quick action.
“The local volunteers and officials from the subdivision administration were alerted and all the men and machinery are on job,” says SDM Damhal Hanjipora.
He said, the administration is in touch with the people there and Tehsildar and AEE PMGSY is on the spot to access the situation.
“Luckily there wasn’t any human loss, but a couple of shops and a house nearby has partially got damaged which will be accessed for further action,” the official added.
