Srinagar, Oct 11: The Cooperative Department would establish the Cooperative ‘Super Bazars’ on modern lines in each district of Jammu and Kashmir.
These comments were made by the Registrar Cooperative Societies J&K Shafqat Iqbal while speaking on the sidelines of his visit to Super Bazar in Lal Chowk, which is among the five stores in the UT where renovation work on modern lines was taken up last year.
“We are making efforts and intend to open one cooperative ‘Super Bazar’ in each district of Jammu and Kashmir in the upcoming years. This year, we have chosen five districts for the establishment of these Super bazars, for which land has been identified and proposals have been submitted to the committee”, he said.
He also said that in an effort to modernise all existing Cooperative ‘Super Bazars with the facility of computerized billing and bar code scanning for the convenience of consumers renovation work on Srinagar’s Super Bazar at Lal Chowk has already started and is set to be fully operational by December end this year.
“Super Bazar at Lal Chowk is among the five stores in the UT whose renovation work on modern lines was taken up last year. Fifty lakh rupees have been allocated for the renovation of each store and work in the Super Bazar store at Lal Chowk is expected to be completed by December end this year”, he added.
However, he asserted that while the store is currently operational on one of the building’s stories, it will be expanded with more inventories once the renovations are finished.
He stated that their cooperative Super Bazars offer quality goods to the public at fair prices with discounts and that they are registered on the Gem Portal so that other government departments can make purchases as well.
