KVK Shopian apprise youth with advances in bio management of plant diseases

Shopian, Jan 05: SKUAST-K’s KVK Shopian on Friday apprised youth about recent advances in biological management of plant diseases at a village in the southern district.
The awareness is created among the rural population with sponsorship from the Ministry of MSME, GOI.
Officials said that around 79 youth along with scientific and technical staff of KVK Shopian took part in the awareness programme.
Senior scientist and Head of KVK Shopian, Dr Zaffar Afroz Badri, presented a detailed powerpoint presentation on biological management of seed borne diseases and biological control of plant diseases in vegetable crops.
He said the training programme was important for creating awareness among the trainees about various plant diseases and their management.
Dr Bilal Ahmad Pandit emphasised on the role of canopy management in managing plant diseases.
He sought collaborative efforts of KVK Shopian with line departments for benefiting the farming community.
He also highlighted the importance of organic inputs in modern agriculture to maintain export quality standards
