Ramban, June 26: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ramban, under the aegis of SKUAST-Jammu, commenced a 15-day certificate course on Integrated Nutrient Management (INM) for unemployed rural youth at Dhalwas, Ramban on Thursday. The initiative is designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills required for agricultural input dealership, while promoting scientific and sustainable nutrient management practices.
The programme is being conducted under the guidance of Dr B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, and has been organised by Dr Raj Kumar, Senior Scientist and Incharge, KVK Ramban, under the supervision of Dr Amrish Vaid, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu. Trainees from various blocks of Ramban district have enrolled in the course, which aims to strengthen agricultural service delivery at the grassroots level. The event began with a welcome address by Dr Raj Kumar, who outlined the course objectives and schedule. He highlighted the importance of INM in improving crop productivity and stressed that such programmes not only benefit the input dealers but also enhance services available to local farmers. On the first day, Dr Kumar delivered a lecture on essential plant nutrients, their deficiency symptoms, and their role in crop growth. He emphasised the importance of balanced nutrient application using recommended fertiliser doses specific to different crops. Additionally, he introduced participants to the key components of Natural Farming, including practical demonstrations. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, during which participants’ queries were addressed.
