KVK Kulgam organizes day long Awareness programme

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kulgam, today organized one day awareness programme on “Agri-Business consultancy for employment of Rural Youth and Services to the Farmers” under HADP Project-Innovative Extension Approaches for Promoting Agriculture in Jammu and Kashmir.

The programme witnessed the active participation of Farmers/ Rural youth, students and entrepreneurs from different corners of District Kulgam.

Chief Guest of the Programme, Prof. D. M. Makhdoomi, Director Extension, SKUAST-K, encouraged the participants to avail the opportunities under HADP, emphasizing its potential to render farming not only lucrative but also attractive to the youth and progressive farmers.

He underscored the role of various technologies in bridging the gap between scientists and farmers and stressed on the importance of Agri-business in enhancing agricultural income.

Showkat Ahmad Rather, ADDC Kulgam underscored the significance of exchange of knowledge and ideas among farmers, rural youth and entrepreneurs, highlighting the profound and positive influence it holds for the agricultural landscape of the district.

A healthy discussion about various schemes was there between the farmers and the officials.

Senior Scientist and Head, Dr. Manzoor A Ganai in his inaugural address highlighted that the programme serves as a significant milestone in the collective efforts towards advancing agricultural practices of J&K. He also highlighted the role of FPO’s in increasing the income of the farming community in general and country in particular.

Resource Person, Dr. Ab Shakoor (SMS Soil Science) delivered the informative and detailed powerpoint presentation on scope and importance of agri-business entrepreneurship. Dr. Shahid Ahmad (SMS AS) carried the practical demonstration of various farm demo units available at KVK Kulgam and the role of the IFS system in agri-entrepreneurship development.
