Kupwara, Oct 07 : A two-day district-level webinar on Vidya Pravesh, the school readiness module under the NIPUN Bharat Mission, was successfully conducted in Kupwara, with the active participation of nearly 500 Zonal Nodal Officers (ZNOs) and School Nodal Officers (SNOs). The online event aimed to orient educators on modern pedagogical approaches to ensure a smooth transition for children from Balvatika to Grade I.
Organized virtually by the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Kupwara in collaboration with FLN Cell SCERT-KD, under the guidance of the Director SCERT-Kashmir Division and leadership of the Joint Director SCERT-KD, the webinar focused on familiarizing participants with Vidya Pravesh’s objectives, pedagogy, and learning outcomes within the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) framework. It emphasized child-centered, play-based, and experiential learning that bridges early childhood education and formal schooling.
The first day featured Sheikh Gulzar Ahmad, Divisional Nodal Officer, FLN Mission SCERT-JK, explaining how Vidya Pravesh supports a gradual release of responsibility from teacher to child, highlighting seven learning areas including art, science, math manipulatives, building blocks, nature walks, field trips, and peer interactions. Dr. Urfana Amin, Member State Resource Group, energized participants with hands-on demonstrations and child-friendly activities, encouraging the integration of worksheets, physical movement, and sensory play.
Day two included an interactive question-and-answer session moderated by Babra Shabir, Associate Coordinator, FLN Cell SCERT-KD, which deepened participants’ understanding of pedagogical interventions and assessment strategies. Principal DIET Kupwara monitored the proceedings, urging ZNOs and SNOs to continue orienting all FLN teachers across the district.
The webinar, opened by Shabir Hussain Shabir and concluded with a vote of thanks by Fayaz Ahmad, reaffirmed Kupwara’s commitment to implementing Vidya Pravesh effectively and ensuring that every child enters Grade I equipped with curiosity, confidence, and readiness to learn.
