Srinagar, June 17: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday announced a breakthrough in the mysterious death of a minor boy in the Lalipora area of Kunzer, in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. A 14-year-old juvenile has confessed to his involvement in the incident, police said.
According to officials, on June 12, Police Station Kunzer received information about an eight-year-old boy (name withheld), a resident of Baandpora, Lalpora, who was found unconscious in a field near his home. He was immediately shifted by family members to JVC Hospital Srinagar for medical treatment.
Responding swiftly, a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) visited the scene to conduct a scientific examination. A case was registered and an in-depth investigation was initiated to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident. Despite all medical efforts, the child succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Tuesday at JVC Srinagar. After completing medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the grieving family. Police said that during the course of the investigation, a 14-year-old boy (name withheld) admitted to involvement in the incident that led to the boy’s death.
The juvenile has been apprehended under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act and will be presented before the competent authority for further legal proceedings. Additionally, two individuals connected to the accused have been detained for questioning. Multiple leads are currently being explored as part of the ongoing investigation. J&K Police has assured the public that the case is being handled with professionalism, impartiality, and strict adherence to legal procedure.
