In a landmark achievement, the Kulgam tehsil became the first tehsil in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) to complete the digitisation of massavies/ cadastral maps, an official said.

An official at Kulgam said that after completing digitalisation of Jamabandies, Kulgam tehsil is now moving forward digitising parcels and massavies (cadastral maps).

He said that the parcels are the survey numbers properly demarcated by lines, while Massavies are cadastral maps – a digital form of land records that reveals boundaries of different land pieces.

“The digitisation would safeguard the data and would help in making the future settlements GPS based,” he said.

Tehsildar Kulgam Bilal Ahmad KAS told Rising Kashmir that Tehsil Kulgam has already completed the digitisation of Jamabandies and the whole record is available on the landrecords.jk.gov.in.

“Digitization of Land records would help in bringing transparency and access to the records on finger tips,” he said.

So far 41K Parcels, 133 Massavies have been Digitised in the said tehsil and the process is continuing, he said, adding, Kulgam tehsil consists of 81 revenue villages.

“The Kulgam tehsil is the first tehsil in the UT to complete the digitisation of cadastral maps/massavies,” Tehsildar said.

He said that the data of the whole tehsil with scanned Record and Digitised record was made open to the public on AAP KI ZAMEEN AAP KI NIGRANI Portal.

“LRIS (Land Records Information System), is a revolutionary programme of the Government, wherein whole revenue records have been scanned first. At Tehsil Kulgam, ater that updation of Jamabandies, the digitisation process of the Jamabandies was carried out,” Tehsildar Kulgam said.
