Kulgam, Feb 17: Tehsildars in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district have issued notices warning residents against cultivating illicit drugs such as poppy on their lands.
The notice issued by the Tehsildar Kulgam informed residents of the government’s complete ban on the cultivation of poppy and other illegal substances.
Bilal Ahmad, Tehsildar Kulgam, informed Rising Kashmir that people have been explicitly instructed to refrain from engaging in the cultivation of illicit drugs and other illegal activities.
He said that after the issuance of the notice, strict legal action will be taken against any individual found involved in such serious offences.
“Those who have cultivated such substances on their lands are directed to dispose of them within five days,” he said, adding that failure to comply will result in severe legal consequences.
Similarly, Tehsildar Damhal Hamjipora has issued a notice urging residents to destroy any cultivated drugs within five days or face the consequences.
