Kulgam, Mar 28: Kulgam Police’s recent community outreach program brought joy to the specially-abled individuals in Damhal Hanjipora (DH Pora), a remote area in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. On Tuesday, Jammu and Kashmir Police distributed essential aids such as wheelchairs, crutches, and hearing aids to poor and needy people in the region.

The community interaction program was presided over by Superintendent of Police (SP) Kulgam Sahil Sarangal (IPS) and accompanied by Shabir Ahmad, Additional SP Kulgam, and Sabzar Ahmad, Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station DH Pora. The initiative aimed to strengthen the relationship and trust between the police and the community to improve public safety.

During the program, locals shared their grievances with the police officers, who assured them of redressal. The locals appreciated the police’s efforts to make Kulgam a drug-free zone. Additionally, under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2023, Kulgam Police distributed wheelchairs, crutches, and hearing aids to poor and needy people in the district.

SP Kulgam also felicitated Alisa Jan, a young girl from Yaroo, daughter of Abdul Rashid Ganie, who is excelling at cricket. She was presented with a cash prize and appreciation certificate to boost her morale.

The police officer interacted with the specially-abled individuals and assured them of all possible support from the Kulgam police. A local Sarpanch applauded the police’s efforts and hoped that similar programs would be organized in the future.

A physically challenged individual expressed gratitude to the police for providing essential aids and other items for their betterment. The department’s kindness and support towards the specially-abled individuals are admirable.
