Kulgam, Mar 04:Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Saturday that they detained a person and found counterfeit cash notes from his possession in the Kulgam area of south Kashmir.
According to police, a party from Police Post (PP) Mirbazar, led by the in charge of the said PP, nabbed a suspect while checking at the established Naka on the Srinagar Jammu national highway at Manigam crossing.
The accused has been identified as Khurshid Ahmad Naik, son of Mohammad Maqbool Naik of Waripora, Kund.
“During the search, police were able to find 37 counterfeit cash notes of ₹500 from his possession. He was arrested and taken to Police Post Mirbazar,” police said.
According to police, a case FIR No. 31/2023 U/S 489B, 489C IPC has been lodged at Police Station Qazigund, and an inquiry has been launched.
In a tweet, Kulgam police said, “Kulgam police arrested a person; Khurshid Ah Naik S/O Mohd Maqbool Naik R/O Waripora, Kund & recovered 37 counterfeit currency notes of ₹500 from his possession. FIR No.31/2023 U/S 489B, 489C IPC stands registered at PS Qazigund & investigation initiated.”
