Kulgam, March 16: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 18th Battalion on Thursday organised a free medical camp here in Kulgam as part of the Civic Action Programme to bring healthcare to the community’s doorsteps.
A large number of people attended the free medical camp and received free medicines, health check-ups, tests, and screenings.
The 18th Battalion, which is based in Kulgam, organises these medical camps every year. Last year, they held a couple of camps where hundreds of community members received free doctor consultations and medicines.
“CRPF has organised this 2nd camp here in Kulgam this year, and these doctors including ours have been beneficial to the local population. Last year, the 18th Battalion organised eight camps in Kulgam that provided health services to the locals,” Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, said on the sidelines of the camp.
A local, Abdul Salam expressed gratitude to the CRPF for organising such a camp in town. “I wasn’t feeling well and visited here. The doctors checked me out, and after some tests and screening, they gave me free medicines,” he said.
B A K Chaurasia, Commanding Officer (CO) 18th BN CRPF, said eight such camps will be held in Kulgam this month, in addition to other people-friendly initiatives under the Civic Action Programme. “So far, we have organised two camps where a lot of community members have received health care facilities at the doorstep. Aside from that, we will provide free computer education to 400 students in Kulgam,” he said.
