Srinagar, Oct 08: In a significant development welcomed by the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community, Dilip Kumar Pandita, a contested candidate for Parliament and Assembly in the 2024 elections, on Wednesday expressed his gratitude to top Jammu and Kashmir officials for enabling the inclusion of native Kashmiri addresses in the NFSA database.
In a statement issued today, Pandita extended heartfelt thanks to the Chief Secretary of J&K, Atal Dulloo; Commissioner Secretary, Food & Civil Supplies, Sourav Bhagat; and Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), Arvind Karwani, for addressing what he described as a "long-standing demand" of the displaced community.
"This marks not just an administrative update, but an emotional milestone for thousands of families. It reflects the recognition of our roots and restores a sense of identity to a community that has endured displacement for decades," Pandita said.
He emphasised that the decision allows displaced Kashmiri Pandits to officially reflect their ancestral homes in the official NFSA records, a move seen as both symbolic and substantial in terms of community integration and emotional healing.
Calling the development a testament to the administration’s sensitivity, Pandita urged the authorities to expedite the process of updating addresses for those who had previously filled out NFSA forms. “Every displaced family should be able to proudly reflect Kashmir as their permanent address,” he said.
He concluded by stating that the step goes beyond bureaucracy. “This is not merely a procedural change, it restores dignity, belonging, and historical continuity for a people who have waited too long.”
