KPPL Edition-4: Spartans XI drubs Punchmukhi Cricket Club by 80 runs

Jammu, Feb 23: Spartans XI defeated Punchmukhi Cricket Club in an easy contest by a big margin of 80 runs in the ongoing Kashmiri Pandit Premier League (KPPL) Edition-4, being organised by Lalitaditya Sports, Education and Health Organisation (LSEHO) at KC Sports Club, here.
The tournament in which 15 teams are taking part, is being held under the overall supervision of Anil Bhat, President LSEHO, who is being assisted by the Organising Committee including Vinay Koul, Ashish Kachroo, Ankur Bagati (Event Coordinator), Deepak Raina, PN Tickoo, Kamal Fotedar, Arvind Koul, Rockey Pandita and Sunil Jalla.
Dedicated to the martyrs of J&K, the tournament is being organised with a twin objective of promoting sports and the unity among the Kashmiri Pandit youth in exile.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Spartans XI scored a fighting total of 147 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process.
Anmol Wali top scored with unbeaten 31 runs off 24 balls with 3 fours and one six, while Sumit Raina contributed 30 runs off 25 balls with 4 boundaries.
For Punchmukhi Cricket Club, Kuldeep Jamwal, Vikas Dhar, Sunil Bhan, Rakesh and Sanju claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Punchmukhi Cricket Club bundled out for a paltry total of 67 runs in 17 overs, thus losing the match by a big margin of 80 runs.
Kuldeep Jamwal top scored with 33 runs off 42 balls, studded with 4 fours, while no other batter gave any significant contribution.
For Spartans XI, Akshay Dhar was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 4 wickets by conceding 14 runs in his 4 overs, while Amit Bhat bagged 3/8 in his 4 overs and Sahil Pandita claimed one wicket.
For his superb bowling show, Akshay Dhar was adjudged as the man of the match.
He was presented the man of the match award by Sunny Mattoo.
