Srinagar, Apr 13: In a heartening display of communal harmony, two Kashmiri Pandit men, Sanjay Sapru and Sunil Kaul, donated blood for a critically ill Kashmiri Muslim patient undergoing treatment in New Delhi. The patient, admitted to the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences in VasantKunj, urgently required twenty pints of blood for a liver transplant.
The call for assistance was sounded on social media platform “X” by the patient’s brother, Manzoor Ali Khan, eliciting a prompt response from Sapru and Kaul. Without hesitation, the duo rushed to the hospital, situated approximately 40 kilometers from their home in Gurgaon, to donate blood and aid the medical procedure.
Talking to Rising Kashmir, Sanjay Sapru, a Kashmiri Pandit settled in Gurgaon said that the brother of a social media user Manzoor Ali Khan was in requirement of twenty pints of blood on Thursday this week.
“He was undergoing liver transplant at Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, VasantKunj, Delhi and was in need of blood, as soon we received the notification I along with my friend rushed to the hospital which is about 40 kms from our home,” he added.
The swift action not only facilitated the urgent medical procedure but also sent a powerful message of communal harmony.
This is not the first time the duo has extended their help. They have previously donated blood to a two-year-old girl who was undergoing a liver transplant at Narayana Hospital in Delhi. Their continued acts of kindness have earned them praise and recognition as symbols of unity and inspiration.
Amidst the backdrop of complex socio-political dynamics and tensions in the Kashmir Valley, the gesture by Sapru and Kaul assumes profound significance. Despite the challenges faced by the Kashmiri Pandit community and the haunting memories of conflict in the region, their selfless deed has been embraced as a poignant manifestation of humanity– the timeless ethos of coexistence and brotherhood.
In essence, the story of Sapru and Kaul serves as a poignant reminder that amidst adversity, humanity prevails, and the spirit of compassion has the capacity to transcend all barriers, fostering unity and hope in the face of adversity.
