They extended their heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this tragedy and praised the ongoing relief and rescue operations. The leaders called on district and divisional administrations to swiftly provide necessary assistance, stressing that the basic needs of the affected families must be met.
Dr Farooq and Omar called for promptly assessing the losses incurred so that compensation can be quickly distributed to those impacted. They expressed solidarity with the victims during this difficult time and urged for immediate action to alleviate their suffering.
Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and MLA-elect Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami also expressed his grief over the unfortunate fire incident that resulted in extensive damage in Marwah. He urged the administration to dispatch revenue teams to evaluate the losses suffered by victims, enabling the swift determination and distribution of compensation.
CPI(M) in a statement demanded adequate rehabilitation measures for those affected and called for the establishment of a Fire Service Station in the vicinity.
Former minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori conveyed his deep sorrow regarding the destruction caused in the village of Manwarwan, Inshan, which saw approximately 70 houses engulfed in flames. He said the fire left local residents homeless and stripped of their belongings, forcing them to live in dire conditions.
Saroori in a statement criticised the lack of fire services in the area for exacerbating the situation, saying that the absence of practical measures despite repeated calls has resulted in huge losses each year. “The negligence of the administration and the absence of fire services have led to such incidents becoming routine,” he said.
The former minister said there is a need for helicopter services in remote areas to ensure timely assistance and more effective fire control measures. He appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for immediate intervention, urging him to visit Manwarwan and implement swift measures to assist the victims.
Saroori called for financial aid and a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for those affected, saying that the administration must step up in providing the necessary support.
He extended his heartfelt sympathy to the affected families and assured them of his unwavering support while urging both the public and the administration to unite in efforts to help the victims rebuild their lives.
