Kishtwar, Jan 08: The Kishtwar administration in collaboration Kishtwar Development Authority (KDA) is going to introduce varied adventure activities in the coming months to attract tourist footfall to different destinations of the district. This was revealed during an interactive meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dr Devansh Yadav with media persons, tourism entrepreneurs, mountaineers, vloggers, hoteliers, traders, transporters and concerned departments to discuss the roadmap for the promotion of the tourism sector in the district.
At the outset, the participants were informed that the adventure sports operators from Rishikesh and other players from the tourist industry have been invited for exploring the adventure sports potential in the district.
On the occasion, various stakeholders including private players gave an insight into the various potential tourist spots and tourism avenues of the district which can be exploited to boost the tourism scenario in the district and generate income and employment for youth.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC called for concerted efforts from all quarters to tap the huge tourism potential of the district. He observed that an inclusive District Tourism Plan can prove instrumental in promoting and upgrading the tourism scenario of Kishtwar.
Laying thrust on the promotion of Kishtwar-specific tourism, the DC called for devising a workable action plan involving all stakeholders besides training local youth as guides for promoting local culture, and art and projecting the area on the tourism map of J&K. He observed that private players including media persons, traders, hoteliers, transporters, and vloggers have to play an important role in the promotion of virgin areas.
The DC also called for upgrading the facilities so as to ensure pleasant and memorable experiences for the tourists coming to the district. He exhorted the stakeholders to replicate the best practices from the states of Himachal, Uttrakhand, etc to promote adventure and religious tourism, besides exploring off-beat destinations and homestays.
The meeting was also attended by ADDC Sham Lal, ADC Kishori Lal Sharma, JD planning Mohd Iqbal, CEO KDA Inderjeet Parihar, SDM Paddar Dr Rishi Sharma, ACR Varunjeet Singh Charak, and ACD Atul Dutt Sharma.
