JAMMU, Jan 29: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has carried out raids at approximately 8 locations in Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the awarding of a tender for civil works related to the Kiru Hydroelectric Project. The project is being executed by Chenab Valley Power Projects (P) Ltd. (CVPPPL).
Following the recovery of significant electronic and documentary evidence, the CBI, on the recommendation of the J&K government, has registered a case against influential individuals. The raids resulted in the seizure of digital devices, computers, property documents, incriminating documents, and a sum of over Rs 21 lakhs in cash from various locations.

The CBI spokesman noted, “On the recommendation/reference of the J&K Govt, the CBI has registered a case.” The case, addressing alleged mass financial irregularities in the Kiru Project, was initiated based on the reference received from the Government of J&K.
The individuals named in the case include the former Chairman, the former Managing Director, the former Directors of CVPPPL, as well as individuals associated with a private company. The allegations suggest that the guidelines for e-tendering were not adhered to in the awarding of civil works for the Kiru Hydroelectric Project.
It is further alleged that, despite a decision being made during the 47th board meeting of CVPPPL to re-tender through e-tendering with reverse auction, following the cancellation of the ongoing tendering process, this decision was not implemented. Instead, the decision of the 47th board meeting was reversed during the 48th board meeting, according to the CBI spokesman.
