Srinagar, Nov 23: Exhibiting the intricate and captivating art and craft of Kashmir valley, The Jammu and Kashmir pavilion at the ongoing India International Trade Fair has garnered an overwhelming response from the visitors.
The members of the business community participating in the fair revealed that Kashmir’s craftsmanship being showcased at the fair was emerging as a major attraction for the visitors from other states and countries leaving them wooed by the unmatched craftsmanship of the valley.
According to the information revealed by the concerned departments, around 125 stalls showcasing Kashmir’s craftsmanship, have been erected by the government of Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, ten stalls have been erected by the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries who are participating in the trade fair.
“The unparalleled charm of the Kashmir craftsmanship has stood out and people in large numbers are thronging the stalls erected by Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and industries and several other departments. The beauty of the craft items is attracting the visitors. We are hopeful that this platform will give a profound recognition to promote the art and craft of Kashmir valley,” Javed Ahmad Tenga, president Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries said.
Pertinent to mention here the India International Trade fair, started on November 14 at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi and will conclude on November 27.
The fair has been instrumental in promoting the immense market potential of J&K UT and fostering and strengthening trade ties with other states and countries.
The members of trade bodies said that the recognition at the fair would give a fillip to Kashmir’s handicraft sector.
“The J&K Pavilion at IITF is drawing an overwhelming response from the visitors and the buyers. It has emerged as a great opportunity for the people associated with this business to promote the trade by showcasing our meticulous art to the world”, the participants said.
The trader’s community sees the fair as an opportunity to pursue new goals and tap into national and international markets . They are hopeful that the major event would provide opportunities for the business community to exhibit and promote their products at national and international levels.
“ The overall response has been great so far. This fair provides us a great opportunity to exhibit the treasured Kashmiri craft. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha who visited the stalls on the first day of the fair acknowledged and appreciated the beauty and uniqueness of Kashmir’s art. This fair will definitely give a boost to the trade”, Javed Ahmad Tenga said.
Pertinent to mention here the Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir UT , Manoj Sinha during his speech on the first day of ITTF termed the Kashmir’s craftsmanship as unparalleled and outstanding LG Sinha had invited people to visit Kashmir’s stalls and be a witness to the captivating charm of the valley’s craft portraying the meticulous work of the artisans. LG Sinha had addressed the fair during the observation of UT day .
The India International Trade Fair has emerged as a premier event organized by the India Trade Promotion Organization, the nodal trade promotion agency of the government every year between November 14 and 27 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
The fair attracts visitors in large numbers and businessmen from across the globe staging a grand platform for the artisans to showcase their arts and crafts.
The J&K pavilion has evolved as a symbol of diverse cultural and traditional heritage showcasing the outstanding craftsmanship of the UT.
