Srinagar, Dec 26: A 15-year-old girl from Humhama Srinagar, Alishba Fatima Jillani, has made Kashmir proud by winning a bronze medal at the International World Championship held in Abu Dhabi. Representing India in the event, Alishba showcased exceptional talent in Pencak Silat martial art.
The daughter of Tanveer Jillani, SSP and Principal of the Commando Training Center Lethpora, Alishba is a 10th-grade student at Delhi Public School, Athwajan, Srinagar. Despite her young age, she has already bagged several medals in national-level competitions. Alishba began her journey in martial arts at the age of 11 and has consistently worked to excel in the field.
Speaking to Rising Kashmir, Alishba expressed immense happiness over representing India on an international platform. “I am very happy to represent India at the international level. It was a proud moment for me to compete against some of the best players in the world,” she said.
Reflecting on her journey, Alishba credited consistency and resilience as the keys to her success. “There are always ups and downs in everyone’s journey, but one must remain consistent to achieve their goals,” she remarked.
Alishba also highlighted the role of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council in fostering the sports culture in the valley. “The Sports Council has made great contributions to Kashmir sports. They are not only providing coaching and space to athletes but are also helping financially those who face hurdles in achieving their goals,” she noted.
She also expressed gratitude towards her father, whom she described as her biggest inspiration. “My father has always supported me, no matter what. His encouragement keeps me motivated to strive for more,” she said.
With dreams of representing India at the highest level, Alishba is determined to continue her journey in martial arts and bring more laurels to her home state and country. Her accomplishments have not only brought her recognition but also set an example for young aspirants in Kashmir.
At such a young age, Alishba has already created a remarkable legacy, with numerous medals to her credit.
