Srinagar, Nov 08: Owing to cloudy weather conditions, Kashmir Tuesday recorded a massive dip in day and night temperatures. The Meteorological Department has forecasted a two-day wet spell from Wednesday till Friday onward.
Director MeT, Srinagar Centre, Sonam Lotus told Rising Kashmir that following snowfall and rains, various parts of the valley are witnessing sub-zero temperatures from the past three days.
“Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla recorded minus 2.6 °C and 1.0 °C as maximum temperatures, while Pahalgam witnessed minus 1.1°C as minimum temperatures and 10°C as maximum,” he said.
Lotus said under the influence of Western Disturbances, light to moderate rain, and snowfall over higher reaches at many places during 9th evening to the 11th forenoon. There is no forecast of any major wet spell during this spell, he said.
“We are expecting improvement in prevailing weather conditions from 11th to 18th November in Kashmir valley,” he said.
Lotus said snowfall and low temperature may lead to temporary disruption of surface transportation, mainly over Zojila, Jmu-Srinagar HW, and Leh-Manali road during 10-11th November.
As per MeT data, the summer capital Srinagar recorded a maximum of 11.7 degrees Celsius and 4.3 °C as the minimum temperature.
Qazigund recorded 11.7°C, and 4.3° C as maximum and minimum temperatures respectively. Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded maximum temperatures of 9.9°C, while minimum temperatures settled at 2.9 °C respectively.
