New Delhi,  Feb 18: Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the BJP National Convention today, highlighting the party’s achievements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and launching a scathing attack on the Congress-led opposition alliance.  Shah underscored the vision of a developed Bharat by 2047, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting confidently that Modi Ji is poised to secure a historic third term as Prime Minister.
In his speech, Shah specifically emphasised the successful abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, linking it to a significant decline in terrorism in the region. He declared with confidence that “during the reign of Modi 3, the nation will be free from terrorism, separatism, and naxalism.”
Shah praised the Modi government’s decision to abrogate Article 370, which he called a “temporary” provision misused by the Congress for decades. He claimed that this action, along with other security measures, led to a significant decline in terrorism-related deaths, saving countless lives.
Shah accused the Congress of distorting secularism for political gain and failing to address critical issues such as Article 370, leading to loss of lives due to terrorism.
Shah criticised the Congress for their past policies in J&K, which he argued emboldened separatist forces and fuelled terrorism. He also accused the opposition of appeasing Pakistan, with Rahul Gandhi’s statements on Article 370 allegedly used against India in the UN.
“Due to Article 370 terrorism and separatism increased in Kashmir, Pakistan got chance to enter Kashmir and over 40,000 people got killed, but appeasement politics didn’t allow to scrap Article 370,” he said.
Shah emphasised the Modi government’s decisive action in dismantling the entrenched narratives of corruption, dynasticism, and appeasement perpetuated by previous administrations. The BJP’s focus on performance-driven governance has instilled a sense of empowerment and aspiration among the populace, transcending traditional divides and propelling Bharat towards a brighter future.
“Under Modi’s tenure, the nation has experienced a paradigm shift towards inclusive development, with unprecedented initiatives benefiting millions across the socio-economic spectrum,” Shah said, while lauding the government’s success in addressing the needs of marginalized communities, providing essential amenities such as housing, sanitation, healthcare, and food security to over 60 crore previously underserved individuals.
Shah also highlighted the sharp contrast between the BJP-led NDA’s developmental agenda and the regressive politics of the Congress-led INDI Alliance, which he criticized for its vested interests and divisive tactics. Drawing parallels to the epic Mahabharata, Shah framed the upcoming elections as a battle between the forces of progress and those of retrogression.
Shah reaffirmed the BJP’s unwavering commitment to serving the nation’s interests, contrasting it with the opportunistic maneuvers of its political adversaries. As the electoral landscape unfolds, the choice between a visionary leadership dedicated to national upliftment and a coalition mired in self-interest and outdated ideologies becomes increasingly clear.
“Only in the 10-year term of Narendra Modi, the nation has experienced holistic development. During this period, Bharat has been secured and progressed on the path of prosperity. As many as 60 crore poor who were out of the ambit of development for 75 years and could not figure out what independence has brought in for them have now got homes, water supply, gas connection, electricity, toilets, 5 kgs of free food grains and health insurance up to Rs.5 lakhs,” Shah said.
The BJP government’s policies prioritise the welfare of Dalits, backward classes, and OBCs, ensuring equitable growth and development.
Shah expressed confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects, citing the party’s track record of governance excellence and widespread public support. The BJP remains committed to serving the nation’s interests, steering clear of dynastic politics and prioritising the welfare of all citizens.
“Our leader Narendra Modi has created a glorious identity of Bharat and today when someone visits a foreign country they are identified as citizens of Modi’s Bharat,” he said.
For the first time, the 140 crore people of Bharat have dreamed of building a great Bharat and this dream has been given to them by Narendra Modi. Modi Ji has not only given them that dream but also the determination to make this dream come true with concerted efforts.
“It is only Modi ji who can perform the task of uplifting millions from poverty in one go and lifting Bharat’s ranking among the largest economies in the world from 11th to 5th. We have to carry the message to every household that when Modi Ji is elected for the third time our nation will rise to the third rank among economies,” he added.
Similarly, there was a belief that if we had to build friendships across the world we needed to compromise with our national security a bit. But Modi disproved this binary and made the security of our borders our utmost priority. But after this, he established  Bharat as the Vishwamitra.
Union Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing critique of the opposition, highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s transformative agenda for India.
He contrasted this vision with the purported self-serving agendas of opposition leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Mamata Banerjee, MK Stalin, and others.
Shah criticised dynastic politics prevalent in several opposition parties, accusing them of promoting familial interests over national development. He highlighted the BJP’s commitment to democracy and meritocracy, citing the rise of leaders like Narendra Modi, who hails from humble beginnings.
He lambasted the Congress for allegedly undermining democratic institutions and perpetuating instability during its rule.
Shah touted the BJP’s track record of governance excellence and electoral victories across various states, attributing it to the party’s pro-people policies. He thanked the people of India for repeatedly electing the BJP and expressed confidence in their continued support.
Shah reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to serving the nation’s interests and urged voters to support the party’s agenda in the upcoming elections.
The allying parties of the Congress too are a chip from the old block. The Aam Aadmi Party is involved in excise and mohalla clinic scams. The leadership of this party is running away from the court and agencies. In Jharkhand Rs 350 crore was recovered from an MP’s home. In Chhattisgarh gambling scam in the name of Mahadev was done. Similarly, hundreds of crore  of rupees were recovered from the custody of DMK and Trinamool Congress leaders. Lalu Prasad Yadav who is convicted of many scams is even today involved in different scams.
Indi alliance is a congregation of seven dynastic parties. The party which cannot enshrine democracy in its systems cannot do the same for the nation, he further said.
“I can say with conviction that the nation will stand for the BJP which is working for the poor and not with the parties that are only to make the careers of their children,” he added.
There are 2G, 3G, and 4G parties in Bharat that are leading their parties for 2, 3, and 4 generations as if the youths of this nation do not have the capabilities to lead. The people who dare to lead are made to face tough times. Many such leaders now have joined the BJP and are walking on the path of democracy.
“Had the BJP been a dynastic party the son of a tea seller could not have become the prime minister,” he said.
Congress distorted the principle of secularism to create a vote bank. Congress party denied the existence of Prabhu Shri Ram in an affidavit and withdrew it later on. It opposed the law banning triple talaq, the UCC.
“When we banned the PFI, the Congress opposed it. When we enshrined the sacred Sengol in the Parliament the Congress opposed it. They mock the states that elect the BJP as the Gau Mutra states and also say that minorities have the first right over the resources and the coffers of the nation,” Shah stated.
“Congress party’s record of destabilizing governments by using Article 356 cannot be broken even in the next 100 years. The Congress party misused Article 356 90 times and Indira Gandhi herself did it 50 times. The Congress party made 40 governments led by regional parties fall. The Congress made 4 union governments led by Chaudhary Charan Singh, Chandra Sekhar, Deve Gowda, and Gujral Fall,” he said.
In a scathing attack on the Congress party, Union Minister Amit Shah accused it of fostering instability in the nation while outlining the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) achievements in governance.
Shah alleged that the Congress party has a history of attempting to influence judicial decisions, citing the controversial appointment of A.N. Ray as Chief Justice in 1973 as an example.
Shah highlighted instances of political violence in states governed by opposition alliances, particularly in Kerala and West Bengal, where BJP workers have been targeted. He accused the INDI Alliance of perpetuating a culture of violence and malpractice.
Shah praised the BJP’s initiatives for the upliftment of marginalized communities, especially Other Backward Classes (OBCs). He contrasted this with the Congress party’s alleged neglect of OBC welfare, citing the BJP’s efforts to implement recommendations such as the Mandal Commission report.
Shah criticized the Congress party for its opposition to various policies introduced by the BJP government, including reservations for women, the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and the Goods and Services Tax (GST). He accused the Congress of obstructing progress and spreading misinformation.
Shah expressed gratitude to the people of India for repeatedly electing the BJP and highlighted the party’s governance achievements across various states. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the BJP’s success and emphasized the party’s commitment to serving the nation’s interests.
