Srinagar, Oct 19: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and Member of Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah on Thursday extended his fervent support for the impending Kashmir-Katra railway link, saying this railway connection would deliver broad-ranging advantages not only to the region but the entire nation.
Speaking to reporters after his journey on the Vistadome Coach from Budgam towards Banihal, Dr Abdullah highlighted the convenience and accessibility this railway link would provide, saying it will facilitate seamless and trouble-free travel for both the residents of Jammu and Kashmir and visiting tourists.
One of the significant aspects emphasised by the Member Parliament was the railway’s resilience to inclement weather. It offers a robust alternative to the region’s highways that often experience closures due to adverse conditions.
“This new railway connection is seen as a promising solution to mitigate the challenges posed by unpredictable weather conditions,” he said.
Dr Farooq said that this development would significantly enhance connectivity and accessibility in Jammu and Kashmir and offer more reliable transportation options for the local population and tourists.
The recently inaugurated Vistadom Coach also garnered praise for its potential to benefit the local community. The NC Chief pointed out that railway travel is often a cost-effective alternative compared to road journeys, making it an attractive choice for both convenience and affordability.
