Srinagar, June 13: Chairman of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister Hakeem Yaseen has greeted the people, especially the Kashmiri Pandit community, on the auspicious occasion of Mela Kheer Bhawani.
In his felicitation message, Hakeem extended his warm greetings to the Pandit brethren, expressing his hope that the occasion would herald peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. “The celebration of the annual Mela Kheer Bhawani reinvigorates and strengthens the bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood, which are the hallmarks of Kashmir’s composite culture and ethos,” he said.
The PDF Chief added, “It is heartening and a moment of pride to see Muslims standing shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri Pandit brethren in the Mela Kheer Bhawani celebrations.”
Yaseen expressed his hope that the people of Jammu and Kashmir would continue to uphold the flag of communal harmony and brotherhood, thereby defeating the nefarious designs of hatemongers.
Describing the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in 1990 as the darkest chapter of Kashmir’s history, the former minister reiterated that the Kashmiri Pandit community is an inseparable part of Kashmir’s composite culture.
“The peace-loving people of Jammu and Kashmir are eagerly awaiting the honourable return of Kashmiri Pandits to their homes and hearths,” he said.
