Srinagar, Feb 15: The hustle and bustle of campus life returned on Wednesday when Kashmir’s colleges reopened following the winter break. The students and faculty were excited to be back at campus on the first day.
To mention, the colleges were closed for 50 days in December of last year due to the cold season.
Bashir Ahmad Rather, Principal of Amar Singh College, this year’s winter vacations were a little unusual. “The vacation time was a bit chaotic for the non-vocational employees as the tests of the 1st semester of the constituents’ colleges of cluster university, who had taken admission in June-July last year, were conducted during the winter vacations. The first semester backlog and third semester backlog examinations were completed.
He further said that the initiative of conducting exams during winter vacations was taken to streamline the process of examinations so that students can start the new semester on time.
While talking about the classwork of various semester. He further said that the class work for the preparation of 5th semester started today. “The skill examination of the first semester would start from February 20-22 and the class work of these students would commence from February 23. The examinations for the 3rd semester would end on February 20 and from February 21 their classes would start regularly,” he added.
Rabiya Altaf, a teacher said, “It’s good to see college reverberating with the activities of students. Our playgrounds are full of students who look enthusiastic and joyful. The warm weather has created a good atmosphere.”
She said that in current academic year, the staff is looking forward to make up the previous loss. “For this academic year, we hope there will be no disturbances and we can deliver better, and our students make most out of it,” she said.
Sana Ali, a student said, “I am overjoyed to see my friends after such a long time. I missed my classrooms and canteen. Today were the introductory classes only. From tomorrow, our classes will be started properly.”
