Jammu, Jan 12: A musical extravaganza was held on Sunday here with the grand finale of “Kashir Kalakaar Season-7” captivating attendees through stunning performances by various artists.
The event, organised by the Athrot Cultural Foundation, received support from multiple organisations, including Kashmiri Pandit Volunteers, People’s Hut Foundation, Martand KP Brigade, and Sabhar Cultural and Welfare Trust. Media partners for the event included Epilogue News Network and Custom and Excise News Network.
The Chief Guest for the evening was Dr Arvind Karwani, the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner for Migrants in Jammu and Kashmir. He was joined by several dignitaries, including senior community activists Moti Lal Malla, Swami Kumar Ji, Dr Ramesh Hangloo, and Prof Virender Rawal. Other special guests included Kirti Dhar, Desha Bhat, Vikram Koul, Arvin Tickoo, and Pankaj Bhawani, who were welcomed during the ceremony.
Dr Karwani commended the efforts of the Athrot Cultural Foundation for their role in preserving Kashmiri Pandit culture, especially in exile. He highlighted the importance of social activists like Kanwal Peshin, who serve as guiding lights for young artists in the community. Drawing inspiration from legendary artist Vijay Malla, he encouraged participants to embrace their craft wholeheartedly as the key to success and excellence. Swami Kumar Ji presided over the event and offered his blessings to the children and organizers for their commendable work.
The event was hosted by Dr Rohit Koul, Kanwal Peshin, and Muktesh Yogi, who welcomed the special guests, followed by an address from Abhimanyu Peshin. In the Mini Junior singing category, prizes were awarded to Vanshika Kaw for first place, Naisha Bhat for second, and Deepak Sharma for third. In the Senior singing category, Nirmit Raina secured first place, followed by Shruti and Daksh as second, and Lavanya and Suhas Koul as third. The winners received trophies and cash prizes from the Hindu Society, with additional cash awards of Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000, and Rs 1,000 presented to the top three entries.
As part of the encouragement for young talents, Kirti Dhar from Shine India JK donated Rs 5,000 to the participants. The event featured a panel of experts including Dr. Ramesh Nirash and Sandeep Koul, the latter of whom delivered a special performance along with children, singing “Assi Chi Kunni Awaz.”
Under the overall supervision of the Athrot team, led by Abhimanyu Peshin, Deeraj Pandit, and Ayush Bhat, the event also recognized several contributors, including Arvin Tickoo and Muktesh Yogi. Pranav Pandita served as the chief coordinator, while Pankaj Bhawani presented the vote of thanks.
Renowned philanthropist and community icon PK Rain hosted the proceedings, which culminated in a standing ovation from the audience, reinforcing the event’s success in celebrating and preserving Kashmiri Pandit culture.
