Srinagar, Mar 05: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Karra on Wednesday criticised the use of derogatory language in the assembly, saying that while every party has the right to express its ideology, the choice of words must be made carefully.
Speaking to the media, Karra said the term in question had been used earlier in the press without drawing any reaction. However, its repeated use in the assembly appeared to be a deliberate attempt to raise controversy. “Senior leaders should refrain from using offensive language in public discourse,” he said.
On the Union Budget, the J&K Congress chief urged patience, saying the upcoming budget for 2025-26 would be the real indicator of future financial planning. He expressed disappointment over the reduction in centrally-sponsored schemes, which, according to him, should have seen a 10% increase instead of a cut.
Karra cautioned that the reduced allocations might hinder the government’s ability to meet expectations and fulfill its planned initiatives. “There is a need for adequate financial support to ensure the effective implementation of developmental programs in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
