Kargil, July 24: The Kargil War Memorial is gearing up for the grand Rajat Jayanti celebration of Kargil Vijay Diwas, commemorating the 25th anniversary of Operation Vijay. The event, scheduled for July 26, will feature Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
In anticipation of the Prime Minister’s visit, stringent security measures have been implemented in Kargil. The Kargil War Memorial at Dras has been meticulously decorated for the occasion. Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier Dr. BD Mishra, along with senior army and civil officials, has conducted a thorough inspection to ensure the event’s success.
To uphold security and maintain decorum, the Deputy Commissioner of Kargil has issued a directive declaring Dras and Kargil tehsils as No Drone Zones. The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is strictly prohibited in these areas from July 24 to July 26, 2024. The order, issued under section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Samhita, 2023, and the Drone Rules 2021, designates the entire area within the revenue limits of Sub Division Drass and Tehsil Kargil as a “No Flying Zone” and a “Red Zone.”
Exceptions to the drone ban apply to security agencies, including police, paramilitary forces, the Special Protection Group (SPG), and defense forces. The District Magistrate highlighted the urgent need for this measure, stressing its importance for public safety. The order will be communicated through various channels, including the district website, print and digital media, social media platforms, and physical postings.
The Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, is responsible for enforcing the order, with violators facing legal consequences. The Rajat Jayanti celebration is anticipated to be a solemn tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces during the Kargil War.
