Srinagar, Mar 23: As Bollywood returns to Kashmir Valley after a long gap, renowned filmmaker Karan Johar has praised the region as an emerging film paradise of India.
Johar, who was shooting his upcoming film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ in the ski resort of Gulmarg, thanked the Jammu and Kashmir administration for facilitating the shoot and for the overwhelming response received from the general public.
In a video message, Johar expressed his gratitude to the people, LG, authorities, and police for their support. He said it was special to return to Kashmir after 11 years and he hopes more movies will be shot in the region each year.
Johar also revealed that the film, which features prominent Bollywood stars such as Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Shabana Azmi, Jaya Bachchan, and Dharmendra, was originally scheduled to release in April but has been postponed to the last week of July.
It’s worth mentioning that last year, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched a new film policy at a star-studded event in the presence of actor Aamir Khan and filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani at the SKICC to attract the industry back towards Kashmir and give a new lease of hope to the region.
