JAMMU, Jun 26: In a historic move, the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and Army have enhanced border security across the Union Territory (UT) to ensure a secure AmarnathYatra this year. This joint effort marks the first of its kind, aimed at safeguarding pilgrims from across India and abroad.
Vinod Kumar, SSP Jammu, highlighted the comprehensive security arrangements in place, including the activation of Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) from Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and JKP. “These teams are strategically positioned to respond swiftly to any potential threats during the 52-day pilgrimage starting June 29th via Pahalgam and Baltalroutes,”he added.
Security measures extend to the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu, where a three-tier security setup has been implemented. National Highway checkpoints have been fortified, and high-rise buildings are under constant vigilance. Additionally, lodges, registration centres, and the entire route have been equipped with body scanners and CCTV surveillance for continuous monitoring.
