Pertinently, a case was registered by CBI on the request of J&K government on August 3, 2022 to investigate into the allegations of irregularities in written examination conducted on March 27, 2022 by the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board for the recruitment of 1200 sub-inspectors in Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Later, 13 people, including a BSF commandant Karnail Singh, ASI Ashok Kumar, CRPF constable Surendra Singh, police constable Raman Kumar, and a government teacher Jagdish Sharma among others were arrested by the CBI in this case.
Searches were also conducted at around 77 locations earlier including the premises of then Chairman and Controller of JKSSB and a cash of Rs 61.69 lakh was also recovered by the CBI sleuths.
During investigation, it came to fore that the question paper was allegedly leaked by the accused, a resident of Rewari, who was arrested on September 19, 2022, with the help of a printing press employee.
A CBI statement issued earlier said that the accused contacted touts in J&K including constables of J&K police and CRPF for soliciting candidates who were charged amounting between Rs 20 to 30 lakh for the paper.
It further stated that the candidates were allegedly taken to Karnal in Haryana and a question paper was provided to them at a hotel there.
“The leaked question paper was also allegedly provided to the candidates at Gangyal in Jammu,” read the press statement.
It is believed that the CBI would present the charge sheet in the case soon.
