Jammu, Jan 28: In a concerted effort to enhance road safety, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, R R Swain, flagged off a Road Safety Awareness Rally at Gulshan Ground in Jammu.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, DGP Swain emphasized the collaborative work of J&K Police and stakeholders in ensuring safe road usage.
DGP Swain highlighted the commitment to making regulatory changes and analyzing the root causes of accidents to safeguard lives and promote secure road practices. He acknowledged the community’s support for such initiatives and stressed the direct correlation between road safety measures and the well-being of drivers and citizens.
Expressing concern over avoidable loss of lives in road accidents, DGP Swain underscored the need for multiple stakeholders to address the issue collectively. He assured ongoing efforts, including regulatory adjustments when necessary, to enhance road safety. “With good intentions and sincerity, the situation will improve,” he affirmed.
During the rally, DGP Swain commended the organizers for their initiative in raising awareness about road safety. The event was a collaborative endeavour involving J&K Police, Jammu Three sixty, District administration, and the Transport department.
Vivek Mahajan, founder of Jammu three sixty, expressed gratitude to DGP Swain for the support and thanked participants and sponsors. The presence of senior police officers and personnel, including ADGP Jammu Zone Anand Jain, DIG Traffic Jammu Shreedhar Patil, and SSP Jammu Vinod Kumar, added to the significance of the occasion.
