Srinagar, Jan 25 : In a remarkable achievement, Jammu and Kashmir Police have secured the highest accolade with a total of 72 gallantry medals on the eve of the 75th Republic Day.
Surpassing other forces, the JKP’s exceptional performance is underscored by individuals like Mohd Rafee Rather, Dr. Shammi Kumar, and others who displayed outstanding bravery.
Official reports reveal that CRPF follows closely with 65 medals distributed across various states, including Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Delhi. Additionally, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) received 21 medals in their respective category. The recipients from Jammu and Kashmir, include Mohd Rafee Rather Dy SP GM, Dr. Shammi Kumar Dy SP GM, Zakir Hussain SCT GM, Ishfaq Ahmad Insp. Meanwhile Director General of Police R R Swain said that it brings immense pride and joy that the personnel, officers, and men of Jammu and Kashmir Police have received 72 gallantry medals on the Republic Day, awarded by the President of India and the Government of India.
“According to information from the Ministry of Home Affairs website, we stand as the highest gallantry medal winners among state police forces”, DGP said.
DGP said that in upholding the highest standards of police service and demonstrating conspicuous gallantry, J&K Police has once again set itself apart.
“I extend my compliments to all officers and men and also take this opportunity to express gratitude on behalf of J&K Police to the UT Government led by the Lieutenant Governor and the Union Government Ministry of Home Affairs for their continuous support and special consideration”, he added.
