Srinagar, July 02: The Jammu & Kashmir Dairy Farmers Association (JKDFA) participated in a convention held at SKUAST Kashmir on July 2, 2025, graced by Hon’ble Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh Ji, Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India. The JKDFA delegation, led by President Sandeep Singh Chib, showcased dairy products and highlighted efforts to empower dairy farmers.As per a statement issued, JKDFA presented its cooperative model, connecting dairy farmers directly with consumers and ensuring fair pricing.The JKDFA team submitted a detailed memorandum to the Hon’ble Minister, raising key issues and practical recommendations for strengthening the dairy sector.JKDFA also put key demands on the occasion including provision of subsidies for milk processing and chilling equipment, inclusion of farmer representatives in the Kisan Board, monitoring monopolies with creation of a government body to check monopolistic practices.JKDFA stressed departmental coordination with enhanced support from the State Animal Husbandry Department and immediate reopening of the HADP scheme besides urgent relief for dairy farmers operating within Municipal limits.JKDFA also demanded ease of Cooperative formation with simplified cooperative registration and prompt subsidy disbursal and permission for farmers to purchase livestock locally under subsidy schemes.The meeting was constructive, and JKDFA remains hopeful that the Hon’ble Minister will address these critical concerns and strengthen the welfare of dairy farmers.JKDFA reiterates its commitment to building a robust, self-reliant cooperative dairy ecosystem that uplifts small and marginal farmers and contributes to rural prosperity .Sandeep Singh Chib, speaking on the significance of the convention emphasised that the Jammu & Kashmir Dairy Farmers Association (JKDFA) is committed to boosting milk production in Jammu and Kashmir. However, government cooperation and support are crucial to achieving this goal and creating a “White Revolution” in the region.
