Jammu, May 5: The first of its kind 2-day matches Women’s Cricket League, being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), is a platform to live dreams. It provides every player an ample opportunity to showcase and hone her cricketing skill
This was stated by the quartet of young cricketers including Afreen, Shambhavi Rajput, Sadiya Wani and Ridhima and was endorsed by the quartet of their Selectors including Surabhi Dadheechi, Ankita Jalla, Pratibha Bhasin and Masarat Ahad while expressing their views on the JKCA’s initiative of conducting this mega league.
Promising opening batter Afreen said one learns a lot of things from seniors and also from juniors in such a league where you have to compete with all three categories of U-19, U-23 and Senior cricketers, adding that the physios and the trainers appointed by the JKCA keep them hyderated despite hot and humid conditions.
Talented middle-order batter Shambhavi Rajput said that this is for the first time she is part of the 2-day matches, which provides them ample opportunity to perform, adding working with seniors is always a great feeling.
Gutsy bowling all-rounder Sadiya Wani while expressing her views on the league said that all the young cricketers get exposure by such leagues, adding JKCA every time has something new in store for the women cricketers.
Another young cricketer Ridhima Rajput said that such leagues give us a lot of experience, adding that JKCA is holding camps for the women cricketers as it has organised a lot of quality camps last and last but one season also.
All the four selectors nominated by JKCA for this league said that this kind of event provides them enough time to select the best lot as the batters can spend time in the middle and the bowlers can bowl a good number of overs in 2-day matches.
They said that the JKCA Administrators provide them with each and every facility they need for the upliftment of women’s cricket.
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) started multi-day matches at the zonal level last season and it is learnt they may start the same at the state level also. For that matter, starting with 2-day matches is a great thing to happen. The players who are making it to the higher levels owe their success to JKCA as JKCA organised Fitness Camps, Skill Camps and all other allied Camps for women cricketers earlier also,” maintained the Selectors.
