Srinagar, May 02: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) after a fraudulent website mimicking the official portal circulated a fake Class 12 result gazette late on the night of April 29, triggering widespread confusion and distress among students and parents across the Union Territory.
According to reports, unidentified individuals created a deceptive website closely resembling the official JKBOSE portal. The fake link, claiming to display Class 12 results, quickly gained traction on social media, leaving thousands of students and their families misled and anxious.
“On the night of April 29, 2025, a link to the fraudulent JKBOSE website and a fake result gazette for the 12th-grade results were disseminated by certain miscreants, resulting in confusion and distress among students and their parents in the Union Territory,” a JKBOSE official told Rising Kashmir.
Taking serious note of the incident, JKBOSE promptly filed an FIR and referred the matter to the police. “We will take stringent action against anyone found responsible for creating and distributing the fake website link and result gazette on social media and in the public domain,” the official stated.
Students have been urged to rely only on official sources for examination-related information. “Students are advised to verify information through the official JKBOSE website, which contains all necessary details to prevent future confusion,” the official added.
Meanwhile, the police’s cyber crime unit has initiated an investigation into the origin of the fraudulent link. Authorities are working to trace the individuals or groups responsible for the dissemination of the fake results.
