SRINAGAR, Mar 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) made an unprecedented decision to cancel the 12th grade Physical Education exam paper after an error in packaging led to students receiving the question paper meant for the 11th grade. The incident prompted swift action, with an inquiry initiated by JKBOSE to investigate the issue further.
Students, dismayed by the error, reported receiving Class 11th papers without any series sorting printed on them, highlighting discrepancies in the exam pattern compared to what was shown and notified by the Board.
Parikshit Singh Manhas, Chairman of JKBOSE, announced the cancellation of the Physical Education exam for the 12th grade annual Regular 2024 in the Soft Zone areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh union territory. A new date for the examination will be communicated separately to the students.
Manhas assured that while examinations for 12 subjects were conducted smoothly in both union territories, the Physical Education subject’s paper was cancelled to maintain fairness and integrity in the examination process.
In response to the incident, a three-member committee has been formed to investigate the wrong distribution of question papers to 12th-grade students. The committee, expected to submit a detailed report within seven days, aims to identify any negligence at the supervisory or administrative level.
Dr.PiyushSingla, Administrative Secretary of the School Education Department, sanctioned the formation of the committee, which includes officers from the Director School Education Kashmir and Director School Education Jammu. Their task involves probing the circumstances leading to the paper distribution error and determining responsibility for the lapse.
Additionally, the committee has been authorized to co-opt any Chief Education Officer or other officer deemed necessary for a comprehensive investigation. Their findings or report will be submitted to the Administrative within seven days, facilitating appropriate action in response to the incident.
