Srinagar, Aug 25: The Jammu & Kashmir Awami National Conference (JKANC) has released its manifesto for the upcoming J&K assembly election.
The key points outlined in its manifesto, according to the party statement issued here, are:
Reinstatement of Article 370 and 35A: JKANC said it is committed to the constitutional reinstatement of Article 370 and 35A and pledged to continue it legal and political fight for full restoration.
Withdrawal of AFSPA: The party advocates for the withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Jammu & Kashmir to “promote peace, normalcy and respect for human rights”.
Restoration of Full Statehood: JKANC demands the immediate restoration of full statehood to Jammu & Kashmir to ensure that all powers reside with elected representatives.
Restoration of Darbar Move: It proposes reinstating the Darbar Move tradition to ensure administrative efficiency and cultural continuity.
Addressing Unemployment: The party said it aims to tackle unemployment by resolving the daily wager issue, creating new job opportunities, supporting local industries and providing incentives for entrepreneurs.
Addressing Current Challenges: The JKANC acknowledges issues like unemployment, water scarcity and electricity shortages. “We are committed to finding sustainable solutions, including innovative pricing models and subsidies,” it said.
Return of Kashmiri Pandits: JKANC said it is dedicated to the dignified return and holistic reintegration of the Kashmiri Pandit community into their ancestral homeland.
Revising the Smart City Project: The party aims to revise the Smart City project implementation to prioritize public convenience and environmental sustainability.
Healthcare Improvements: A comprehensive overhaul of the healthcare system is proposed, including the expansion of super-specialty facilities and addressing manpower shortages.
Quality Education for All: JKANC promises to enhance education policies to ensure quality and result-oriented education, focusing on digital literacy and future-ready skills.
Royalty from Power Generation: The party plans to negotiate for 50% royalty on power generation and water resources with the central government.
Other points mentioned in the manifesto include reviewing the J&K Reorganization Act, the release of political and innocent prisoners, redrawing the Food Policy, revival of Indigenous handicrafts, promoting industry and commerce, ensuring mandatory single-window clearance system, social welfare schemes, support for trade and manufacturer bodies, redefining geology and mining policy, protecting local interests in domicile certificates, ending VIP protocol misuse, revival of export and transport industry, promotion of untapped tourism spots, women empowerment, support for the elderly, creating AI “revolution” and outsourcing, addressing the beggar menace, housing for all, promotion of religious tourism and conservation of lakes.
