Kathua, Dec 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) organized a soulful Punjabi Kavi Durbar at Kartar Public School (KPS), Kathua, Saturday, in remembrance of the martyrdom of the four Sahibzades (sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji).
The event, held under the guidance of Smt. Harvinder Kour, JKAS, Secretary of JKAACL, aimed to honor the supreme sacrifices of Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh, and Fateh Singh.
S. Charanjit Singh Bhola, SGPC, Kathua, was the chief guest, while S. Harpinder Singh graced the occasion as the guest of honor. The program was also attended by S. Nirmaljeet Singh, Chairman of KPS, Popinder Singh Paras, Editor of Sheeraza Punjabi, and Jang S. Verman. Students and faculty of KPS were also present to pay their respects. The ceremony began with a welcome address by Smt. Harpreet Kour, Principal of KPS. Poets including S. Hazura Singh, Master Gurnam Singh, Saroj Bala, Master Jagdish Singh (Kathua), Dr. Lekh Raj (Sujanpur), and Jang S. Verman (Jammu) recited moving poetry reflecting on the martyrdom of the Sahibzades. Students from the school also presented their heartfelt poems dedicated to the young martyrs.
S. Jagtar Singh, Coordinator-cum-Advisor of SGPC, JK, appreciated the event, emphasizing the importance of educating future generations about the legacy of such great personalities. He urged families to teach their children about the profound contributions of these figures to their faiths and societies. Popinder Singh Paras shared insights into the activities of JKAACL and encouraged communities to organize similar cultural programs to spread moral values, especially among the youth. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Damanjit Kour, Vice-Principal of KPS, acknowledging all those involved in the successful commemoration of this significant occasion.
