Jammu, July 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) on Thursday organised a literary programme titled “Meet the Author” to honour renowned Hindi writer and poet Anila Singh Charak for her remarkable contributions to Hindi literature.A statement issued here said that the event was held under the guidance of Harvinder Kour, Secretary, JKAACL, and was aimed at documenting and celebrating the lives and creative journeys of distinguished poets, writers and artists from J&K. Welcoming the audience, Dr. Javaid Rahi, divisional head, JKAACL Jammu, emphasised the importance of preserving and promoting the region’s rich literary heritage. He praised Charak’s enduring legacy, noting that her writings bring forth women’s voices, confront social issues and reflect cultural values with depth and sensitivity.In a mark of respect and recognition, Charak was felicitated with a shawl and memento by Dr. Rahi in the presence of Dr. Chanchal Sharma, Editor Hindi, JKAACL, and senior literary personality Dr. Monojit Singh. The event featured a critical paper presentation by Dr. Monojit Singh, who delved into the literary themes, stylistic nuances, and the lasting impact of Charak’s work. He highlighted her mastery across genres—poetry, satire, and ghazals—and her fearless articulation of truth and social reality. A highlight of the programme was an interactive session titled “Main Aur Meri Sahityik Yatra”, during which Anila Singh Charak shared insights into her over five-decade-long literary journey. Recalling her experiences as a woman in the male-dominated literary sphere, the former Principal of DAE (AEES), Mumbai, spoke candidly about the struggles, inspirations, and unwavering commitment that shaped her work. “I have always believed in writing with honesty and conviction,” Charak said. “Literature must reflect the truth of our times, the resilience of the human spirit, and the subtleties of our inner worlds.”
