Jammu, Jan 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages (JKAACL) hosted the renowned All India Urdu Mushaira at the Abhinav Theatre in Jammu on Tuesday. The event, attended by a distinguished assembly of writers, intellectuals, and literary figures, showcased the unifying power of poetry in celebrating the nation’s cultural diversity.
Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary of the Department of Culture and School Education, was the Chief Guest for the occasion. In his address, Gupta highlighted the Mushaira’s role in bridging cultural divides, celebrating India’s pluralism through the universal language of poetry. He also announced 31 new schemes under JKAACL to promote regional art, culture, and languages, encouraging writers and artists to take advantage of these initiatives.
Harvinder Kour, Secretary of JKAACL, welcomed the esteemed poets and guests, remarking on the historical significance of the Mushaira, which has been a key event since 1960. She stressed the importance of such events in preserving cultural heritage and fostering creativity.
The Mushaira featured captivating performances by celebrated poets from across India, including Chander Bhan Khaal (Delhi), Rajesh Reddy (Mumbai), Manish Shukla (Lucknow), and many others. Local poets also added their voices, enriching the event with thought-provoking poetry that blended traditional themes with modern perspectives. The event underscored the timeless appeal of Urdu poetry and reaffirmed its power to unite people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
