Jammu, Feb 29: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha highlighted the shifting mindset of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth, stating that 65% of the population no longer wishes to participate in mob activities but aims to contribute to the nation-building process.
Addressing the inauguration of the ‘JK Youth Conclave 2024’, alongside the launch of ‘Inspire GenZ’ and ‘Beats of J&K’ initiatives by the Department of Information and Public Relations, LG Sinha emphasized the importance of youth empowerment and individual development.
“The J&K youth are no longer inclined towards being part of mob activities, but rather aspire to be contributors to the nation’s progress,” remarked LG Sinha, alluding to past instances of stone-pelting and hartals in the region.
Acknowledging the efforts of the Department of Information and Public Relations in engaging and inspiring the new generation, LG Sinha stressed the significance of platforms like the ‘Youth Conclave’ in shaping the region’s social, cultural, and economic landscape.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of youth in fostering innovation and driving India’s prosperity, LG Sinha reiterated the UT Administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and providing a conducive environment for their growth.
With 65% of the population comprising youth, LG Sinha emphasized their demographic dividend as the region’s greatest strength. He called upon Mission Youth and the Department of Information & Public Relations to establish a network of youth through a Next Generation Coalition- JK programme.
Highlighting the selfless nature of youth and their potential in combating drug abuse and serving society, LG Sinha reaffirmed the Administration’s dedication to providing necessary resources and support for youth endeavors.
The event witnessed LG Sinha visiting exhibition stalls by various departments, distributing appointment letters and benefits to beneficiaries, and enjoying electrifying performances by artists from Beats of J&K.
Present at the occasion were Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor; Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Rehana Batul, Commissioner Secretary Information; Jatin Kishore, Director Information, along with senior officials, renowned artists, young achievers, and a large gathering of youth.
