J&K witnessing peaceful polls, massive turnout of voters: CEO Pole

Srinagar, May 02: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer, Pandurang K Pole on Thursday evening said that the elections are proceeding peacefully across the Union Territory.
Talking to reporters during his visit to Srinagar’s Lal Chowk area, Pole said that upcoming elections in Kashmir are progressing smoothly, similar to other parts of the country.
He said that the candidates are reaching out to people with their views points and the administration is also committed on ensuring good voter turnout.
Pole specified that voting is scheduled for May 13 for the Srinagar parliamentary constituency and May 20 for the Baramulla parliamentary constituency.
He expressed confidence in a good voter turnout this time and encouraged people to fulfill their democratic duty by voting for their preferred candidate.
Voting is not only a right but also a responsibility that citizens should uphold, he added.
Returning Officer for the 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, Dr. Bilal while talking to reporters on sidelines of Musical event held at Poloview Srinagar under SVEEP said that they are fully prepared for the voting process in Srinagar, and they expect it to proceed smoothly and peacefully.
“We urge the youth of Srinagar to come out and exercise their democratic right to vote. Their participation is crucial in shaping the future of our democracy”, he added.
Bilal said, “each vote holds immense value in determining the direction of our constituency and the nation as a whole.Therefore, we encourage all eligible voters to cast their ballots and contribute to the democratic process.”
He also reassured the public about the arrangements made for the voting process.
