"Cloudy Skies, Rain Spell Expected Across J&K": MeT

Srinagar, April 27: The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has forecast a spell of unstable weather across Jammu and Kashmir, with rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds expected over the next few days.

According to the MeT forecast, the region will witness generally cloudy conditions with light rain and thundershowers at scattered to many places on April 27 and 28, accompanied by gusty winds and a possibility of hailstorms at a few locations, particularly during afternoon and evening hours.

Weather is expected to remain partly cloudy on April 29 and 30, with brief spells of light rain or thunder at isolated places. From May 1 to 2, conditions are likely to stay mostly dry, though short showers may occur during afternoon hours.

A fresh spell of cloudy weather with intermittent rain and thunderstorms is predicted from May 3 to 4, followed by largely dry conditions between May 5 and 8, with only isolated brief showers not ruled out.

The advisory issued by the MeT Centre has urged farmers to suspend agricultural operations on April 28 in view of the expected adverse weather.

Meanwhile, parts of the Jammu division—including Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi and Udhampur—are likely to experience hot and dry weather, with heatwave conditions at isolated places on April 27. Residents have been advised to avoid heat exposure during peak hours and stay hydrated.
